School Of Sanctuary

Nano Nagle College – A Proud School of Sanctuary

Nano Nagle College is proud to continue its journey as Cork  City’s  first officially recognised  Post Primary School of Sanctuary — a school with a truly welcoming heart.

As we begin a new school year, we remain deeply committed to creating a safe, inclusive, and compassionate environment for every member of our school community. Being a School of Sanctuary means that our students and staff actively promote empathy, celebrate diversity, and stand in solidarity with those seeking refuge or a fresh start.

Our work is grounded in the three Sanctuary Principles: Learn, Action, and Share. These guide us in everything we do — from classroom learning to whole-school events — helping us build a community that respects, values, and supports people of all backgrounds and experiences.

Over the past year, we’ve:

  • Celebrated cultures and traditions through inclusive school events.
  • Led student voice initiatives promoting belonging and understanding.
  • Strengthened partnerships with local organisations that support migrant and refugee communities.
  • Created spaces where every student feels seen, safe, and valued.

At Nano Nagle College, “Deeds not Words” is more than a motto — it’s a lived reality.

We look forward to another year of growth, learning, and action as a School of Sanctuary, and we invite you to be part of our journey.
