About Gaisce
Gaisce is a non-competitive, self-directed programme which encourages students to develop their talents, contribute to their community and achieve personal growth while earning recognition for their achievements. This programme is a challenge set by the President of Ireland. Students are asked to set goals and in engage in activities in the areas of:
- Personal Skill (first-aid, baking/cooking, photography, CV writing)
- Physical Recreation (swimming, team sport, gym)
- Community Involvement (helping younger kids in a school or club, community campaigns)
- Adventure Journey (overnight expeditions/ explorations)

Award Levels
Participating students work towards achieving their goals in each area over a specified time period which runs from 13 to 52 weeks depending on the award level that they are working towards starting at the Bronze award.
- Bronze (Age 14+)
- Silver (Age 15+)
- Gold (Age 16+)
Students taking part in Gaisce will also participate in a residential project where they engage in activities that promote personal development and teamwork during an overnight stay somewhere in Ireland.
